SHINJA-KAI KARATE
ABOUT
Shinja-Kai Karate was established in 1992, by its founder and senior instructor Terry Warke, 6th Dan.
​
Our principal instructors are: Deidre Warke (4th Dan) and John White (3rd Dan).
​
Deidre, commenced training in 1992 and passed her 1stDan grading in December 1998. She subsequently achieved 2ndDan in December 2001, 3rd Dan in July 2006 and 4thDan in December 2012.
​
John, commenced training in 2003 and passed his 1stDan grading in December 2009. He was successful in gaining his 2ndDan in December 2012 and 3rdDan in December 2017.
​
Shinja-Kai Karate prides itself on offering a training environment that is family oriented and friendly, whilst maintaining the highest standards of professionalism.

Our training covers the areas of:
Basics - punches, kicks, blocks and stances.
Kata or Forms - choreographed movements that incorporate the above basics.
Sparring - touch contact sparring at the lower levels, progressively moving to higher levels of contact as skill levels increase.
Self Defence - Self-defence techniques against unarmed and armed aggressors.
Throws, Rolls and Breakfalls - a combination of techniques, essential to self defence and sparring.
Joint Locking and Choking techniques - the effective application of these techniques can quickly bring an attacker under control.
This breadth of training ensures that those that study karate with Shinja-Kai, have a well rounded appreciation and knowledge of all aspects of karate.

Classes are held at Woodside Institute Hall on Mondays at 6.30pm
.

Our minimum age to commence training is 8 years old.
